Community development has always been a focus area for JNPT because it is important that the growth and development of the Port drive economic stability and prosperity among the community around the Port. Inclusive growth is very essential because it reflects on the overall growth and economic development of our country.
JNPT has been keenly involved in rebuilding the lives of PAPs and at the same time providing support for development to the nearby villages and townships through many social objective projects. Providing livelihood through employment is one way to achieve financial stability and scope for growth for the community and JNPT has been working closely with the government to address the ‘lack of skill’ among the employable population in the local community. As part of the Sagarmala project, The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and its stakeholders including the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is supporting this initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana. They also launched, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra initiative which will be providing best-in-class skill development centres running industry-driven courses. JNPT Signed MoU with CIDCO and All Cargo Logistics for setting up a Multi-Skill Development Center in Bokadvira, Uran, near JNPT under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra to create a suitably skilled workforce and cater to the diverse requirement for the industry.
JNPT is also the first major port to start the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana at JNPT Hospital. This initiative will provide quality medicines to common masses at an affordable cost.
JNPT is committed to the development of the community around the Port and already has many social projects and youth development initiatives in the pipeline to drive the economic growth of the region.
