Dear Valued Employees, Stakeholders and Trade Partners,

I extend my warm greetings to everyone as we welcome the New Year. First and foremost, I'd want to thank the medical professionals, healthcare workers and all COVID warriors involved for their efforts in overcoming the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis. The last couple of years have been challenging for us, but we have turned challenges into successes, thanks to our stakeholders and fellow employees. The industry diligently worked towards supporting the country’s economic growth with efforts channelized towards providing customers with a cohesive experience while adding value to the trade.

I am pleased to share that in CY 2021, JNPA handled record cargo of 5.63 million TEUs, which is the highest ever container traffic handled in a year since the inception of the port and is also the highest exim container traffic handled by any Port in India.

In another significant development, the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, flagged off the dwarf container train service from JNPA, a pivotal step towards streamlining the rail movement of EXIM cargo via double-stacked dwarf containers, giving the EXIM community a competitive cost advantage by lowering hinterland logistical costs, while simultaneously enhancing rail-cargo traffic at JNPA. JNPA commenced its trial operations on its newly dedicated berth for coastal shipping under the ‘Sagarmala’ program to provide an impetus for coastal cargo movement. This berth will provide better infrastructure for coastal shipping and decongest rail and road networks, ensuring cost-competitive and effective multi-modal transportation solutions.

JNPA was awarded ‘Major Port of the Year (Container)’ at the 8th International Samudra Manthan Awards 2021 as a mark to recognize & reward exceptional achievements in marine volume and efficiency. The port has also been awarded the best ‘Major Port of the Year - Containerized Cargo’ at the Maritime and Logistics Awards 2021 and ‘Best Port of the Year (Containerized)’ at the 5th India Maritime Summit.

The current and the past year have had a significant impact on all of us, but I would like to thank all my colleagues and stakeholders for your significant support and dedication during these challenging times. This is a time for reflection and rejuvenation of hope for the future and we at JNPA seek to develop as an organization, improving the prosperity of our businesses and grow as individuals, contributing in whatever capacity for the benefit of the Exim community.

We wish everyone a Healthy and Happy New Year 2022.

With Warm regards,
