It gives me great pleasure and happiness to wish you all a very happy new year and I sincerely extend my best wishes to all stakeholders of JNPT.
Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), the premier Container Port in the Country was commissioned in May 1989 as a Bulk Cargo Terminal and over the next thirty years, the Port evolved itself not only to suffice the immediate business demands but with a vision for the future and worked diligently towards it. Today we rank 28th in the list of Top 100 Container ports in the world and we are the only Indian Port among the Top 30 Ports Globally.
JNPT has partnered with DP World, Maersk, and PSA over the past 3 decades in its operations to serve trade by bringing inefficiency in terms of terminal operations and increased its capacity to 7M TEUs. By 2022, JNPT expects to further enhance overall capacity to 10M TEUs.
We created a historic milestone recently by achieving 5.13 Million TEUs in Container handling, which is a 6.2% increase from the last financial year which closed at 4.83 Million TEUs. Such achievements mean a lot to us at JNPT and we assure the trade of being the best facilitator of foreign trade in years to come and firmly believe JNPT has anchored itself as the major catalyst for the trade and commerce in the Country. We have some large scale projects underway focused on overall Port development and enhancing our operational efficiency which will drive the next phase of the transformation of the Port. We are also investing in developing our Infrastructural support so that we are prepared to manage the organic growth in traffic expected due to the Port expansion and development.
Yet again, we have set ourselves a high benchmark for 2020 and I have my utmost confidence in the vibrant workforce at JNPT that we will achieve our goal with resounding success. I am sure that all our stakeholders will continue to extend their full support towards our endeavor to make JNPT a customer-centric organization and a major contributor to the India growth story.
We are foraying ahead to become the ‘Gateway Port’ of South Asia and navigating our energies to achieve the Government’s dream to transform JNPT into one amongst the best ports globally.
Wish you all a Happy and Prosperous 2020
